6. Faulty/Defective Goods
If the product has been used for its intended purpose and the manufacturers recommended instructions have been followed, any fault will generally appear within the first three months after purchase. For this reason, you may return any faulty item up to three months after the date of purchase. Products will be professionally inspected and where necessary passed onto the manufacturer before a judgement is made.
If the damage to the product is deemed accidental or natural wear and tear then the item will be returned to the customer. If the inspection reveals any fault of the manufacturer then you will be offered an exchange or full refund. If a product is deemed faulty, we will also reimburse you with reasonable postage costs should a receipt be included.
In certain circumstances, providing the product does not show excessive wear or neglect, a product may still be deemed defective three months after purchase. In this instance you may return the product for a thorough inspection. Such items may take longer to inspect as communication with the manufacturer may be required. Unfortunately, after this period of time, any products that are sent back to us for an inspection are done so at the customers own risk. We can not guarantee to be able to offer any refund or replacement on products returned to us after this period of time.
We evaluate each returned faulty product professionally and as quickly as possible with an aim to keep every customer satisfied with the highest level of customer service possible. Please note, all faulty items must be clean, dry and free from dirt and mud and we reserve the right to refuse to inspect any item if they are deemed to be too dirty or wet.

Your Cricket Bat Warranty
And factors which affect it .....
Bat Preparation & Care Guidelines
Cricket bats are made from natural materials (willow and cane), which will deteriorate with usage. This is what we call wear and tear.
Each piece of willow is different, as are the players and the force with which they strike the cricket ball. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately predict a cricket bat's lifespan with so many varying factors.
To maximise longevity and performance, it is imperative to take the time to properly “knock-in" your GM, SALIX and ADIDAS cricket bat before using it in a match situation against new, hard balls.
Please follow our bat preparation as there are guidelines to reduce the risk of damage and to maximize the performance and life of your GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS cricket bat.
Amount and Intensity of Use
Like a pair of running trainers or tyres on a car, eventually, they wear out. The 'mileage' of a cricket bat depends on how many balls you hit and how hard you hit them.
For example, an average club player probably has a net session and a decent knock once a week if they're lucky. Players at a higher (elite) level - professional, county representative, academy, and top-grade club cricket, tend to hit the ball harder, face faster bowlers, and engage in more intense, regular ball hitting.
We recommend these players have at least two bats and keep their best for matches to prolong its lifespan.
Warranty Terms
All new GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS cricket bats are covered by a 3-month* warranty covering manufacturing faults that are not the customer's fault.
- Handle Breakage.
- Horizontal split due to willow defect such as storm damage.
- Delamination
Our warranty is a 'goodwill agreement' and subject to inspection and the customer having followed the GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS Bat Preparation & Care Guidelines
All warranty decisions are at the discretion of GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS Cricket and are within the normal wear and tear expectations of a bat of its age.
GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS reserve the right to withdraw the Warranty Service if our experts deem that the bat has been subject to damage due to one or more of the following:
Lack of adherence to our bat preparation guidelines.
Deliberate damage.
Use of poor quality balls, non-leather or composite balls
Normal wear and tear.
Mistimed shots.
Yorker and/or Edge damage.
Excessive bat tapping and sliding.
Water damage.
Heat Damage
Poor storage conditions (too damp or dry).
Any and All Post-Purchase Modification made to the bat.
Our warranty covers all manufacturing and material defects caused by reasonable use. A lot of the damage that occurs in the lifetime of a cricket bat is superficial and does not affect the bat's performance.
Warranty will also be voided if any of the below conditions are breached:
-
Excessive bowling machine use
The balls used in these machines can readily damage bats and break handles even at moderate speed due to the hardness of the ball. We recommend you use an old bat or have face and edge protection on your bat. Limited use of batting with a bowling machine is advised. Heavy use will void the warranty. -
Water damage
Where the toe of the bat swells up. This generally happens on wet synthetic wickets when a bat is not oiled sufficiently. ShoeGoo or toe guards can help prevent this. Water damage can lead to further damage such as splits and dints. While this damage can be repaired at a cost, we cannot guarantee that the repair will last a long period of time due to the nature of the area. -
Mistimed shots
Leading edges or jamming down on a ‘yorker’ with force can cause damage to the toe, edges, handle and shoulders of your bat. Avoid using low-quality balls, and if you are going to try to put one over the fence, make sure it is out of the middle! Damage caused by mistimed shots that damage your bat will result in the warranty being void. Timber is a natural product and it is not indestructible, so if you hit the wicket or jam down on a ‘yorker’ we cannot cover this. -
Extreme heat/dry damage
If the bat is left in somewhere where very high temperatures occur (e.g. car boot) it can dry out, become brittle and be more prone to cracks along the edges and toe. Oiling before and during the cricket season will help prevent this. If you have a protective facing on your bat, we recommend oiling and then re-covering it prior to every season. Storing your bat in a cool but dry place will help keep the moisture level within the willow consistent. Cricket bats showing extreme heat/dry damage will not be covered by the warranty.
Bats returned under warranty will be assessed by our experts at GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS , and we will advise as to the best form of action and whether or not the warranty terms cover the issue or if there may be a potential charge. We will not carry out any chargeable work without your consent.
Any valid warranty manufacturing and material defects will be repaired free. If the bat is still within the warranty period but considered beyond repair, we will offer a free or significantly discounted replacement depending on the bat's condition/usage.
At GM, SALIX AND ADIDAS we always try to be fair and reasonable and more 'customer friendly' than what is considered normal within the cricket bat market.
*Bats which are made of extremely low density or dried below our standard percentage may be subject to different warranty terms.
